Project Cortex

Microsoft's Project Cortex represents a collaborative knowledge management for companies based on artificial intelligence. It is intended to help make knowledge more easily and effectively accessible to users by analysing existing data and deriving highly specific and personalised information from it, bundling it and making it available to the user.

Project Cortex learns from the habits of the employees and offers them the right information exactly when they need it. This enables faster learning within the company.

Intelligent knowledge database

Project Cortex creates a knowledge database from collected information, for example from processes, projects, products or customer data, in which knowledge in various content categories is combined with related topics and people. Microsoft Graph as well as various AI technologies from Microsoft SharePoint and external sources and systems are accessed. To gather information, Project Cortex can, for example, recognise text from images and documents and extract information from forms as metadata.

Cortex People Cards

Topic & People Cards

This bundled knowledge is made available to users in various ways: In Outlook, Word, SharePoint and Microsoft teams, so-called Topic Cards will automatically appear when a topic is identified. These then display information on the topic, including a description of who in the company is familiar with the topic or what resources are available. There will also be People Cards that show who in the company is working on what.
